The Best of Halifax – Best Photographer – Liam Hennessey

Editor’s Note: Liam did not win. In fact, he didn’t even make the top three list…but that’s ok because we had one hell of a good time making this video!

 

It’s been too long, friends.

It’s been so long I’ve now written and re written 3 different angles on how I could post this video. I tried to tell a story with an underlying message and it went off the rails. I tried to go back to the beginning and that got wordy and I near put myself to sleep with it. I’m rusty.

So let me just tell you this: I do not, by any stretch of the imagination, think I am the best photographer in Halifax. I don’t think I’m even the best photographer in the room and its only me and Pancha here. What I do think is that, as a collective, Steph, Ashley, Jennie, Emma, Richard, Scott, Anna and I are building something so different that it doesn’t even fit into a category for the Best of. I mean, you can vote for the best barber and the best barbershop, the best bar and the best bartender and you can vote for the best salon and best hair stylist…but no photography studio, just photographer. What we are doing doesn’t even fit into a category…and what we are doing sure as hell doesn’t get all done by me. I may put the ME in team but everyone else brings the T and A. I’m nothing without these guys and I really feel like it should be Applehead on the list and not Liam.

So, in an effort not to dig too deep into what it all means and get all kumbaya, we decided to poke a little fun at ‘the Best’. We shot this together in a few hours and it happened to coincide with a visit from our good buddy, Denis Duquette, who also agreed to read a script I’d written for him, sight unseen. (Momma Jennie + Emma, we missed you so much, but you were both being adult parents that day)

I could never just post a link or ask someone to vote for us a la the ole Send All route. Three years ago I wore a dress and had my makeup done. This year I ruined a printer and discovered that we all have mad acting skills. The true BEST of this is that its the same crazy group of people, taking time out of their busy schedules to do fun shit just for a laugh. I fuckin love you guys! Let’s do this forever.
