I have a tattoo on my arm that says “Don’t Let Your Silly Dreams Fall In Between the Crack of the Bed and the Wall”
So, after 60 days of not working, not feeling inspired nor creative, this is our silly dream. This is a couch conversation that didn’t end at “Ha, yeah, wouldn’t that be funny if…”
What we’ve learned over the years is how important the simple, classic group photo is, regardless of the occasion. Everyone line up, get close and smile. It is timeless and yet simultaneously and permanently stamps ‘that time in your life when…’
High school grads are not going to get the same experience most grads do. They can’t be together, as a group, as friends in their prom clothes. Until now.
We’ve tested it. We’ve socially distanced it. We painted big fun family pods on the lawn and there’s food!
Thanks to the magic of photoshop and the finest team of people I’ve ever worked with, we can bring high school grads together in a photograph. By ‘together’ we mean still socially distanced and never really together. It’s fake, its just looks real, because thats how it should feel.
We’ve teamed up with the one and only Oceanstone Resort for a limited number of June sessions, to offer these Prom Project Photos to all high school graduates and their families. Our first 6 sessions will take place on June 8, 2020 at Oceanstone Resort between 2pm and 8pm. We do have potential for more dates if the first date fills.
The cost for this shoot is $375 per graduate. This price will include 1 final group shot of all of the friends together (see below), plus an additional set of family portraits of the graduate and their immediate family, plus a take away picnic box for each family! Oceanstone is also offering 30% off accommodations for the evening with an option to picnic on site and add everything from brownies to craft beer (for the parents!) If you haven’t been here before, I can best describe it as the perfect beachfront cabin with a wood stove and a sunset.
HOW TO BOOK YOUR SPOT:
Identify your group of grads (up to 10 people) and assign someone as the main point of contact. Then drop us a line and we can confirm a 1hr time slot and get you started through the process. Each group can expect to spend no more than 60 min on site and shoot time for each family is approx 5 min or less. It’s a meticulous process, but we’ve made it a lot of fun!
It’s important to note that this is NOT an attempt to recreate a Prom Experience. This is a photo shoot that follows every current guideline for interaction as set forth by the province. We’ve checked and double checked!
So, here is our test shoot with Emma + her friends and a few shots of Emma + her family. Emma is the daughter of my friends Janice + John Mackley. I grew up with Janice through Junior High and High School so this had a hidden layer of special for me. As I was watching CTV evening news for an interview I did about commercial rent, Janice pops up on Live at 5 with Emma about how Emma + her Dad, John, were in the new Justin Bieber Arianna Grande video. I was literally talking about looking for a group of grads to test this shoot on and there was Emma + Janice on TV right in front of me!
After a few poses, each family then moves off for a quick family portrait with Ashley + Richard.

Thanks to everyone who made this work under ‘unprecedented times’. Roberta, Dean + Robert at Oceanstone, thank you for trusting us. We really appreciate it. Janice, Emma + John, thanks for going along for the ride and investing your time in this with us. To the rest of the grads and families, we really appreciate you getting dressed up, borrowing suits, putting your arm around nobody and smiling at nobody next to you. We had a lot of fun and we hope you did too! Stephy, Roberta, Ashley, Richard, Jennie and Morgan I can’t wait to give you all a big ole hug. This was a blast!
Hi there, I love your work. I work at the Prince George Hotel in sales and my daughter Taylor is graduating. I would like to book a time?
Hi, my daughter is one of the participants in the prom photo shoot but the pictures have yet to be made available to me. Can you please include them in my album. Thankyou.
Sincerely,
Eric Ashford
