We’re going to offer a series of one night workshops over the next few weeks. Topics will vary from night to night and will cover everything from the very basics right up to the bold and daring. The workshops will take place at our studio in downtown Halifax at 1658 Market Street from 7pm until about 10pm. The cost for each individual workshop is $150.00/night or $500 for all four nights (and we’ll make you a limited edition workshop t-shirt). You know all those intro courses you hear about…well this is nothing like those. Nothing like them at all!
CAMERA BASICS – July 15, 2015
-an introduction to the Exposure Triangle + your camera’s controls
-a stern talking to about never shooting in AUTOMATIC mode
-learn how to use your camera and not just push the buttons
-meet up to 19 other people with cool cameras and no clue how to use them
-periodic feelings of being completely lost, followed by monumental A-HA moments and fist pumping.
-a strong desire to go home after the workshop and take photos of your sleeping family or friends, because now you GET IT!

BASIC LIGHTING – July 23, 2015
-a nerdy discussion about LIGHT
-live examples of shooting in various lighting situations
-another nerdy discussion about SEEING LIGHT
-the basics of that expensive flash you bought for your camera
-live shooting with on camera flash (and a few top secret tips you can only find on the internet)
-periodic feelings of being lost, followed by monumental A-HA moments and fist pumping
-a strong desire to go home after the workshop and take photos of your sleeping family or friends, but this time use some really cool techniques and make it look really cool!

POST PRODUCTION – July 29, 2015
-a stern talking to about digital management + long term storage (and a small plug for making prints + books)
-an introduction to Lightroom + a stern talking to about why you should use Lightroom if you’re not already.
-tips, suggestion + horror stories about managing all of these photos you’re taking
-live examples of basic image (color + blakc/white) editing in Lightroom
-periodic feelings of being overwhelmed and confused followed by A-HA moments + fist pumping
-a strong desire to go home and edit all those photos of your sleeping family or friends to make them look even better now!

OFF CAMERA FLASH – August 6, 2015
-a stern talking to about not needing to buy every single piece of lighting gear that exists
-off camera flash basics – the how and why it all works
-live shooting examples with one simple off camera flash
-overwhelming feelings of confusion followed quickly by A-HA moments and high fives
-a strong desire to rush home and set up a light in the bedroom of your sleeping family or friends room and make some of the best photos you’ve ever taken,because now you really get it!!

ABOUT THE APPLEHEADS
