check out the beaming grin on Eegn!
Today is one of those ‘you never know what you’re going to get’ kind of days. It started w a 9am shoot followed by a little bit of location scouting and then I find myself on the scary end of the camera later this evening as I get to be a part of a project w the Cancer Society and be shot my one of my favorite Halifax photographers, Alex + Kate MacAulay. (did I ever tell you about the day Lola was born and Marcia went into labor at 3am on WEDDING EVE….well I sent an email at about 4am to Alex and Kate and while I was becoming a father and missing a wedding, Kate was saving my ass by shooting for me. last minute. I’ll never forget it thanks Kate!)
Anyway, it’s freezing today and even colder when you’re standing on the ocean, on the ice, in the wind. Steph and I did a little bit of location scouting for a shoot on Saturday and so we bundled up, grabbed some gear, eegn and trekked off into the arctic tundra. I can tell you that in about 10 minutes we dropped the LumoPros THREE times…the first time the stand tipped over all I saw was Steph flying through the air and screaming, “oh noooooo” and she crashed to the ice w a thud. They didn’t break, crack or misfire and neither did Steph. I’m more excited about these cheap ass flash than I am about my new fancy camera.
You would not believe how many times Steph and I take photos of each other for light tests. It gets boring and you can only make so many funny faces…so in an effort to make good with all my boudoir clients who’ve ever let me post images on my blog and to make the 3 people walking across the ice wonder what in the hell we were doing…I stripped down a wee bit. No reason. Steph just squinted, laughed and said, “Oh this HAS to go on the blog”.
