Jaime was the MOST relaxed bride I have ever photographed. That’s right, THE MOST. She let almost everything be decided by someone else. Seriously. She let a small child choose her gown (don’t worry it was from BHLDN!), her groom chose her shoes, her decorator did the decor, her mother chose her earrings. She didn’t go for makeup trials, but she bought some makeup to put on herself, and guess what, Matt noticed.
Matt was a styling, thoughtful and romantic groom. He ordered a custom-made suit with his name on it. His grandfather’s guitar, made by women during the war, was restored and made a special appearance.
Jaime + Matt, so unassuming, humble, and happy, who knew it would be you two to ruin me for all future weddings. A couple so smitten with each other that it was as if there was no one else at Pictou Lodge on that August day. And so obliging to steal away with Tamara and I they were; this made for an amazing combination. We rely so much on the willingness of our couples to make great portraits.
I should have known it when Matt told me all about his grandmother. His love for the women and family in his life was apparent then.
I should have known it when Jaime told me they had to remake Matt’s parents wedding photo (and then Matt said they could do that another day), and that she had never seen the place where they were getting married but she chose it based on Matt’s hometown. Her respect for family traditions and Matt was apparent then.
I should have known it when they told me the story of Jaime’s shoes. They couldn’t find a pair in Jaime’s size that she liked– so Matt got on his phone and ordered a pair of Fluevog shoes right there in the shoe store!
I should have known it by the way they looked at each other when they sat in my studio a month before their wedding, the first time we had a chance to meet. OK, maybe I kind of suspected it then… But I didn’t know it. Until… well, see for yourself here for their slideshow, or below.
