so I’ve never entered a photo in a competition before. I have a few for next years PPOC and maybe the WPPI but a few weeks ago I sent in a wedding image called Smart Move, to a wedding photo competition put on by Willow Paper Works. Here’s the image: It took 3rd place (I […]
I was hangin around during Gillian + Brendan’s reception and realized I was standing in a dark hallway w one light (well, 2 i guess) and 2 chairs. so i stole the bride + groom and this was the first shot. big fan of my camera. (if you’re into data…its 3200 2.8 1/100)
i knew the very second that i first sat down w alison that this wedding was going to be exactly the kind of thing i love to shoot. she told me to just do what i do. so here’s what i did….(and i must say, this was a group of very talented and creative individuals. […]
i hooked up w Ally & Paul for a last minute engagement shoot last week. we trespassed & we drank beer. it was a great time. i’m looking forward to shooting this wedding for 5 reasons: 1. they’re gonna let it all hang out. i know they are. 2. it’s on Ally’s family property which […]
hands down, the most creative and talented videographer I’ve ever worked with. JLF Productions. It made we want to offer wedding videographers here at Applehead Studio and Ashley Brown and Richard Donovan wanted to shoot wedding videos. Its was a perfect photography and wedding videography mix for us all!
here’s a few from Jen & Stephen’s wedding a few weeks ago in Grand Pre. I’ll say it again, its an amazing spot to get married. add to that, a rockin dress (Felicity Bridal) and lots of moxy….and you get images like this.
i just spent 2 days in Dundee shooting Kim & Pudgey’s wedding. i need 2 more to recover. these guys are friends of mine so it was good to see lots people I don’t often see. seeing these people in the past has always led to hangovers the next day. today did not disappoint. it was […]
so tonight was a pretty cool nite. marse and I had dinner with 2 very awesome wedding photographers and their assistants spouses. it’s a lot of fun to sit around and talk about wedding photography and throw out ideas and share ideas all in the name of mutual respect. i left feeling inspired. then we found out […]
i have no idea what html is. but i can manipulate it. i have a phenominal webhost they hook me up in minutes. eastlink makes me wait for a full day for a cable outlet. there’s no waiting w Aperture for anything. all this backend world wide web stuff is bringin me down. too much MAC time […]
i shot at Grand Pre last nite in the rain and it was incredible. you could stand in one single spot there, turn 360 degrees abd use everything around you for amazing backdrops and scenes. only the torrential rain stopped us from shooting more. i cannot wait to go back there. havent touched the images […]
i’ve been trying to work w Sara & Dave forever…rain kept holding us back. we wanted sun for the beach shoot. they’re getting married….somewhere, sometime. it will be hot and sandy. this was a very fun shoot. very fun. here’s but 3 for now. it’s late.
my high school days flashed before my very eyes a few weeks ago when I shot an event for a group of seniors from Halifax Grammar School. i’m really looking forward to doing more grade grad/senior work this year. All I have from my senior prom are a few goofy grad photos in a cape […]
Lola’s been sick the last week or so. kinda thought it was teething but it was a double ear infection, ruptured ear drum and strepp throat. she was a pile of sickness and it sucked. got us some penicillin from the awesome Dr Gallagher and later that nite Lola was up for a photo […]
i love shooting in new locations. unknown locations. sean & lindsay invited me down to their family’s place in Chester for a little pre wedding shoot. i knew they had a rowboat but nothing else. it was a visual cornucopia of awesomeness. cannot wait for the wedding and some fine, fine automobiles to work with.
i always wait until the last minute to submit an ad to Duly Noted. the very last minute. since my design partner is imaginary i was forced to come up with something. i knew the image i wanted and i knew the size it had to be. 2 combinations of RGB, […]
if you know me, you know how ironic it is that, on my Mom’s last day of chemotherapy, Lisa Raitt is on the cover of the Chronicle Herald with her cancer comments in print. Fresh off the Wifag OF370 coldset printing press. unless asked, i don’t really talk about it with anyone. not […]
serendipity. the paper was right there, all alone in a huge corner of the train station. how could you not try it again? one of my favorites from Gillian & Brendan’s wedding.
love it when an idea takes on a life of its own. in fact, i wish it was that way all the time. i have always wanted to do a shoot at this tree. You know the tree. erika & mark met me there around 6pm under mostly sunny skies and Simpson’s clouds. love me […]
when i was a wee lad, probably 10 or so, I would hop on my bike and walk about 2 blocks to the playground near my house every single monday – friday in the summers. i don’t think they offer the same thing to kids these days, but back then they had ‘big kids’ looking […]
Malcolm Gladwell’s recent book, Outliers, mentions how plane crashes do not happen simply because something went wrong. I may be a little off, but I think catastrophes such as plane crashes happen when a series of seven or more errors occur. (the voting results lead me to believe you don’t want to read, […]
