I could never understand why photographers never show full weddings. I mean, thats what we DO. That’s what we’re paid for. It’s what every client expects. Can you imagine getting 10 or 15 really good wedding photographs? Can you imagine getting 100?
Without a doubt, the most popular question besides ‘what are your prices?’ is ‘how many pictures do we get?’ The most popular comment after having seen a sneak peek of photos is…’I can’t wait to see the rest!’
And you should see the rest.
So, we’re breaking free of the ‘only show the best’ approach and going with ‘this is exactly what you can expect.‘
I’m not hiding behind hero shots anymore. I’m cool with showing you what we do and how we do it, from beginning to end.
There will always be highlights to a wedding, but sometimes its the moments you never see that mean the most to people, like a grandmother being escorted to the podium for a speech (real life example).
Wedding photography to us, is not about the forty five minutes we get to make 20 or so pretty/wow/crazy/dark/clever photographs. Wedding photography is entirely about the 795 other minutes where everything you’ve been planning for the last year or so…actually happens. Its the smiles, the laughs, the fist pumps and high fives. It’s the frustration + tears, the disasters and the disasters averted. It’s awkward smiles and not-always-your-best-angle moments…that are real. All of them.
Wedding photography, to us, is not about a feature on a popular blog in 2014. Wedding photography, to us, is about how you feel in 20 years after the likers have stopped liking and the commenters have stopped commenting.
We’re shooting for you, and this is the most honest way to show you what we do. We’re showing you our missteps and yours. Our finest moments and yours. We’re showing you all of it.
(Shannon + Matt, thanks for letting us feature your entire wedding. Seriously, thank you.)
