When Natalie’s mother said to her after the ceremony that it had been the most beautiful wedding she had ever attended, and she wasn’t just saying that because it was her daughter’s, I had to echo that sentiment. It was beautiful in so many different aspects.
First, the location. If you haven’t heard of Minister’s Island, Google it, it’s incredible all on its own. When I met with Ron and Natalie before their wedding I told Ron I hadn’t Google’d it because I thought it would jinx them choosing me for their wedding photographer. He asked, “If we book you will you look into it?” Haha, I was dying to know all about it! I could have photographed people and things, vistas and beauty, for two days straight on that island. The time we spent there was waaaaay too short with so much potential. And the Algonquin resort presented so many beautiful panoramas too, so little time so many beautiful spots! It made me resolve to get back to St. Andrews by-the-sea for a longer stay.
Second, the people, they were beautiful inside and out and although the speeches continued long past when they were scheduled to end, I along with everyone else in attendance, laughed until there were tears and my sides hurt, and cried in between. Ron took any opportunity to dance with his new bride and he executed a huge surprise when he serenaded her at the end of the reception.
Third, the weather behaved as if it was controlled by forces thinking of only Natalie and Ron that day. I remember Natalie saying as she got ready that there were thundershowers expected at the exact time the ceremony was scheduled. As it turned out, the rain drops came down just as the first bridesmaid started to walk down the aisle under open skies. I ran to get my umbrella and felt foolish when I came back to my position as everyone else in the crowd seemed to just know that it would be OK. And indeed it was, more than OK. As Natalie and her father began their descent down the aisle it was that very moment when the sun shone brightly down on them. The crowd’s reaction was audible, and I remember Natalie giggling. Would you believe the same thing happened when the ceremony ended, the sun shone brightly as if to add applause to the couple uniting! To cap the day off, the super moon shone on their reception after the rain poured down once everyone was safely under the tent. I have never seen timing like this!
