Graduation Portraits at Applehead Studio

Like our business and corporate headshots side of things, graduation portraits kind of started by accident. We got a referral from a friend and did a grad shoot for a Dalhousie Med student. That job lead to a couple more and the rest is history.

We looked at what is currently being offered in the Halifax for university grad portraits and decided we could bring a little bit of Applehead style to an antiquated approach that hasn’t changed since the 80s.

The biggest change: the posing and the body language. Subtle, but significant, we just bring a more relaxed approach to posing. We never really understood the portraits where grads gaze off in the distance, so we don’t do them! We’re happy to help with your gown fitting and the hoods (you deserve a degree just for getting those hoods to fit just right!) but you will have to rent the gowns and hoods from the school.

We’ve also changed the entire proofing and purchasing system. After your quick grad shoot in the studio, everything else is done online. Proofing, prints and payment can all be done in one easy step and we offer all of our clients the option of digital files or prints. Retouching is included in all of our final shots. Our turn around time is typically 24-48 hours after you make your final selections.
