I feel like a farmer at this time of year. An image farmer. May-October is the time when I kiss Marcia and Lola goodbye and work like a dog for 6 months.
For months I’ve been plotting, sketching, thinking and collaborating and on Saturday it was finally time to ‘nut up or shut up’. It’s wedding season 2010 in Halifax and I’m like a kid on Christmas morning (when I was about 5, my parents got me an Atari and I was so excited I threw up). I’ve got some fun stuff to show you from Kate + BJs Shore Club wedding in Hubbards on Saturday but first I need to finally post a few more images from the Prince Edward Island Trash the Dress extravaganza.
I feel like I talk about this all the time but I’ve stopped ‘planning’ shoots on wedding days. Plan A always needs a plan B and plan C etc. I’d much rather show up and roll with whatever the weather, location, bride+groom and light gives me. Case in point…Jeff Cooke and I had huge plans for this farm shoot with three amazing women. We did not count on freezing rain, snow, rain, darkness and cold…so we improvised. I played lighting guy while Jeff shot, Jeff played lighting guy while I shot and we all stayed warm in a very unsafe loft of a broken down barn.
I’m still trying to get settled in after moving from the deep back woods of Boutilier’s Point and as soon as I do I’m going to post a video from the entire day’s shoot. For now, here’s a few more images.
‘thank you’ does not do justice for the hospitality we were shown at PEI. Thank you SO very much to Allison for letting us sleep on her couch, play with her record collection and leave gear all over her apartment. Thanks to Ghislaine for the most amazing chowder I’ve ever had in my life…and for letting us document every single second of our trip, including the incredible jam session that went down in her living room. You made us feel at home…and we can’t thank you enough!
big thanks also to the amazing creative team that assembled to help us with this shoot. If you’re ever in PEI you need to visit the following people. they will make you look like a rock star.
Makeup: Savannah Belsher-MacLean
Wedding Dresses: Felicity Bridal (thanks Christa…you’re not getting them back!)
Custom Jewelery: Gail Hodder
Hair Pieces / Millinery: Love Charlie

And of course our brides: Aleshia, Leslie & Ghislaine
Amazing job with amazing people! THese are beautiful, and you are welcome here to our little island anytime!
Phenomenal post … those shots of the bride laying down are really spectacular – amazing what a couple of wedding photographers can do in an unsafe, 10 x 10 poorly lit space. And sorry if I temporarily blinded you.
These wedding shots are exceptional. I think they are pretty well the best I’ve ever seen. Very out of the norm….good for you!
