We shoot a lot of corporate head shots here in Halifax. Most are the classic ‘head shots on white’ that get used right here on LinkedIn and company website Contact pages…but every now and then we get a project where the client wants something different. This shoot with Ocean Optometry has been one of the most fun projects we’ve ever worked on.
With full creative control, from concept to execution, we worked at tying in each unique personality with an homage to simpler times of hard working Nova Scotians and the ocean that was crossed by the owners, Euan + John, to settle here in Halifax and build a business. I also insisted on the seagull because life is too short to take yourself too seriously.
8 months, 8 million concepts and we finally got to this. I’m really proud of this work and I’m proud to call these guys friends. Check out their blog for the whole story behind the shoot.

(…I should add that this shoot was once referred to as both ‘The Nautical Disaster’ and ‘Scared’. Who knew we’d lose such an incredible man and creative influence just a few months later. RIP, Gord)
