My friend Christa Akerman from Felicity Bridal in Halifax contacted me about 6 months ago to see if I could help her out and photograph an event at the Prince George where she would be showing some wedding dresses. I was in.
What made this shoot even more special was that it was a benefit for Adsum House. That was pretty much all I knew until I showed up last Thursday.
The benefit for Adsum House was called a Blooming Tea and it was every bit of spectacular. Being from Cape Breton, I appreciate a good cup of tea and a tray of sweets in the afternoon. But it just kept getting better. The room was filled with what seemed like more than 100 of the nicest women you will ever meet…and a lot of them were Red Hat Ladies. I met the Dollie’s from Dartmouth and put in a good word for Marcia. Seriously, I had such a great time.
Christina Martin showed up with her guitar and played a 45 minute set. It’s always fun to see Christina and hear her play. I shot with her a long time ago when she was selling cruises and now she’s taken over the airwaves of the CBC.
I’ve done a couple of the 10 minutes/10 frames shoots over the last few weeks and I’ve been lucky enough to meet Nicole and Barbara. When I found out Christa needed a few models I asked them both and they jumped at the chance. Joelle also took some time away from the ER to drop by and play dress up for us as well. Joelle and I are planning a very elaborate Trash the Dress shoot in the next few months but it was nice to see her model these so elegantly. Thanks so much for helping us out on such short notice ladies. Your smiles and enthusiasm lit up the room.
I encourage you to check out the Adsum House site. They provide incredible resources for women and children and could use all the support they can get.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You did such an amazing job capturing the true essence of the afternoon.
Oh what fun it was! gorgeous pics (of course)! i think in the second one i am madly hunting for the pockets! and now im just wondering how come we didnt get to have any of those delicious little cakes??? And thank you Christa for trusting me to not step on the bottom of the dresses and rip them!
