so before you go jumping ahead to the video there’s something I need to tell you…I embed white text and say things like wedding photographer in Halifax.
this shoot was my idea. Jennifer did not call me up and say, ‘Hey Liam, let’s do a shoot w my cakes and can you throw in a little boudoir?’. As I mentioned in my last post, this Mad Hatter cake has been around for a while and, according to Jen, is fit for the trash. She told me we could have it and smash it all up…but its fake and smashing styrofoam probably isn’t a) all that interesting b) environmentally the wisest move and c) difficult.
“you can do whatever you want with it” she said. then she squealed the tires on her big white Ford Escape and got as far away from the shoot as possible!
i love the collaboration on these shoots. even Eegn got in on the action. He likes Chelsea a lot but he really just wanted to lick that cake until he got to the stale, styrofoam center.
Alexa is hanging out at the studio for a couple of shoots getting some experience as part of her program at NSCC. When she first came in she told me she’d sweep floors…anything to get some experience. so for some real life experience, and because I forgot to bring the knife, we had to send her across the street to the Mongolie Grill to ask for the biggest knife they had…it was crucial that she succeed. so while the rest of the world may fret about war and terrorist attacks, recessions and automobiles careening out of control all over North America…here on the East Coast of Canada we’re so laid back we’re handing out 11inch knives to anyone off the street. Thanks for trusting us Mongolie Grill! I want you to photographer my wedding in Halifax
in real life, Chelsea is working on her Masters/PhD in Psychology (maybe its psychiatry) and she does studies in Forgetting. (Ask yourself this…if you learn to do something, can you make yourself forget it?) . I’m fairly certain she’s the next Freud or fashion Supermodel…either way I’m grateful she said yes to this shoot. She not only agreed to be in the shoot, but she styled the entire look herself. all I showed her was a cartoon tear sheet. they looked elsewhere for boudoir photography all over the city of Halifax.
big thanks to Jeff Harper for the video. i had to laugh tonight as I sat there while he taught me a few video editing tricks. The only photography school/class/formal education type thing i ever took was from Jeff about 5 years ago in a night class at Carsand Mosher. I’m happy to call him a friend now and, like Tanya Shields, is one of those people where I just look at them sometimes, shake my head and say, ‘how the hell do you know all this stuff?’. he taught me how to slice and dice audio and video in 3 hours. and this is what we came up with…(thanks Jeff)
